Seatrec’s Persistent Smart Acoustic Profiler (PSAP), built on the InfiniTE™ float platform, is designed for long-term ocean soundscape monitoring. Through Ocean Synchro’s Testing & Evaluation program, the report follows the system from three California field tests to a later Hawaiʻi deployment that demonstrated sustained operation over more than eight months at sea.
California field tests
The three California tests validated the platform in stages: they confirmed sensor performance, reduced self-noise, verified acoustic clarity against the MARS cabled hydrophone, and showed that energy harvesting could support onboard sensing and data processing under field conditions.
Hawaiʻi deployment
The Hawaiʻi deployment demonstrated the system’s end-to-end functionality over more than 8 months, including over 1,000 dives to 700 meters on a 6-hour cycle.
