Infinite EnergyDeeper Insights

Learn More

Seatrec designs and manufactures energy harvesting solutions that generate electricity from naturally occurring temperature differences in ocean waters. Our modules enable oceanographic researchers to extend mission life and optimize data capture in the most eco-friendly manner possible. Other applications include oceanic robotics, ocean energy stations, and polar environmental research.

Extend the operational life of your oceanic equipment and mission life considerably with infinite power.

Save on costs even while increasing sensors, data collections, and frequency of profiles.

Eliminate battery littering in the ocean by powering equipment with clean, renewable energy.

Seafloor Mapping

Measure shapes and depths of the ocean floor in poorly mapped areas globally in the most cost-effective and sustainable manner.

Soundscape Monitoring

Tune into ocean sounds to monitor marine mammal communications and quantify the impact of noise pollution.

Hurricane Prediction

Capture frequent 3-D ocean data during rapid hurricane intensification to improve decision making.

Oceanic Robotics

Our products reduce toxic battery waste and enable underwater drones to perform longer and more complex missions.

Ocean Energy Stations

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) is supporting our efforts to develop underwater power stations to support defense, industry, and aquaculture.

Polar Environment Research

With support from NOAA and ONR we are developing methods to extract energy from the extreme air-sea temperature differences found at high latitudes.

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants

The ocean never ceases to inspire us. So do the people who are obsessed with understanding its enormous impact on our environment and lives. Forty years ago, oceanographic pioneer, Henry Stommel, envisioned a network of floats powered by the sea. That vision inspired a generation of oceanographers to find a method to provide subsurface ocean data on a scale and frequency similar to how satellite technology provided data for the earth's surfaces. Seatrec's mission is to continue the quest.
